Fond memories of Land Rovers from way back.. Not as an owner, but as a user. The Oz army used them for just about every small vehicle function up till the mid to late 80's and the light artillery mob I was in had them as gun tractors for 105mm L5 howitzers. The gun (around 1500kg from memory) behind, the shooting stores (say another 50kg) and ammunition (maybe 150kg) the seven man detachment (you work it out) packed in on top and the driver wedged in behind the wheel - and the whole bloody shooting match still went like the veritable clappers over hill and down dale and took a stack of associated punishment without missing a beat!

When we were issued a Toyota Land Cruiser for assessment on one exercise, it came back with bent panels, lights hanging off, bits missing, coughing and spluttering and not too happy with itself. I know they've improved them a lot since then and the army has no more 'drovers, but I always did like them. Solid, tough, and reliable. Mind you, at my now advanced years, I'd prefer slightly more comfort.....
