Sometime about 1975 I read a book which I borrowed from the Copenhagen Public Library. It was a short novel about a violinist who was tired of just reading notes on a page and wanted to "really play music", so he packed a tape recorder and his fiddle and headed for the Transylvanian Alps to learn to fiddle from the gypsies.
That book keeps haunting me - I tell its story to many people, and have searched used book stores and libraries here in the U.S. for a copy, but to no avail.
I believe the author was Peter O'Connor. At one time in my search I even had an ISBN number, but I've since lost it.
Can anyone help?
