If you're like me, many of RT's recent albums have left you wishing for "more guitar". Fans of his unique electric guitar stylings, rejoice!

The latest "official bootleg" available from richardthompson-music.com is a live recording from a 1988 tour of RT's electric band, featuring John Kirkpatrick (accordion), Pat Donaldson (bass), Kenny Aronoff (drums), as well as the late, lamented duo of Clive Gregson (rhythm guitar, vocals) and Christine Collister (vocals). It's called "More Guitar" and that's exactly what you get!

Bookended between a snarling "Don't Tempt Me" and a raging "Jerusalem on the Jukebox" are eight Thompson classics including "Can't Win", "Jennie", "Shoot out the Lights" and "I Still Dream", plus Gene Clark's Byrds-era "Here Without You" which has the three singers harmonizing to beat CSN, and the R&B classic "We Got to Get out of this Place", all delivered by a cracking rhythm section over which RT wails with wild abandon. Highly recommended!

Also of note and available from the same site is another live recording, this one from RT's ongoing "1000 Years of Popular Music" concert series, beginning with "Summer Is Icumen In" (known to the Mudcat as the oldest known English folk song) and including gems like "Shenandoah", "Cry Me A River", "Tempted" and "Oops! I did it Again" (yes, really), all delivered in inimitable Thompson style.
