Hello everyone,

Occasionally I get asked my opinion on what banjo to get for a beginner. I've heard the Deering Goodtime banjos are pretty solid but I've noticed over the last year or so some really inexpensive banjos being imported from China or who knows where else with brands like Johnson and Rover being among the cheapest, Saga and Tyler Mountain being a little more. Has anyone had any experience, good or bad, with any of these brands?
