Some years ago we drove from Indiana to DC, deliberately trying to get there before a hurrican hit -- mighta been Floyd, I only remember that it had a masculine name. We started out around 8 p.m. and hauled it as fast as we could. Come dawn we were on South Mountain and I saw the pearly "hurrican sky". We got to the house and slept through the storm!

Having grown up with tornadoes, I decided than and there that I'd rather live with tornadoes. They're only a few hundred yards wide, and while the damage they do is immense it's not as widespread and there's usually not any flooding to speak of.
