I often meet young Irish lads here who despair of ever learning the language. (I gave up years ago). I always tell them the same thing.
"Listen mate, one night you will be sitting here in this bar and you will find some blond haired, blue eyed girl whom you want to take home with you. Believe me, you'll start speaking German as well as any son of a bitch that has ever walked in this bar!"
