Not only Irish pubs. We have been to several social clubs in South Wales where they have signs up warning performers not to sing Alice.
Never heard it sung, myself. Must have lead a sheltered life.

But I do recall the a guy who sang 'cats on the rooftop..cats with piles..' in a folk club got a frosty reception.
