Dave, as I remember it the Tardis was supposed to change in each landscape but something got stuck (maybe it was the lack of money that led to that storyline!).

We got TV in 1966 when I was 14 & I saw some episodes over the next 10 years before I moved out (probably not many as I never did watch much TV) & loved it. I used to read the novelisations to get my fix. I have several commemorative books, the Radio Times Special for the 10th anniversary & the BBC 20th Anniversary special, and a hardcover book by Peter Haining also for the 20th anniversary, 1983.

The last episode I (supposedly) saw was when Tom Baker's doctor was regenerating as the Peter Davison Doctor - "supposedly" as my brother's old TV had a bad case of something or other - I don't think it recovered - and the pictures rolled & ghosted so badly that there were 4 companions carrying 2 Doctors when I had to turn it off, it was driving me crazy trying to see what was really happening.

Looks like I might have to cultivate TV owning friends (JennyO?)
