Paul McGann did a one-off feature, not a series (it was shown in England on a Whitsun/ May Bank Holiday Monday, and I remember leaving Bampton early to catch it). The TV series were faithful to the concept of the Doctor "ageing backwards" and the actors who played the Doctor being (well, at least looking) younger in each successive series. This would rule out most of the candidates nominated above....
