Good Sir Clifford was her man,
He got shot in the war an' he couldnae stan(d)

Gamekeeper Mellor's was a crook,

She came to his door wi'a rat-a-tat tat,
"Come in", says he. "And we'll have a wee chat"

He took her intae his but an ben,
Ye can read whit he did on page a hunner an ten!

So tae a' ye lords this moral Ah'll tell,
