I get the impression that The Bull of Kildare is quite modern and not known outside the part of Ireland where its writer lives; could easily be mistaken, but I can't really see anyone mistaking "curragh" for "bull", even after a long night in the pub. I find only the John Kennedy example of the other song, as MMario describes; Roud lists it at no. 13157.
