I don't really know which came first, Baltimore or Harry Lauder's version, called "We parted on the shore," the chorus of which goes:

"We parted on the shore, we parted on the shore,
I said 'Goodbye my love I'm bound for Baltimore.'
I kissed her on the Cheek and the crew began to roar,
Ilio, ilio, we parted on the shore."
