Now, I hate to admit this but my wife's three sons from North Carolina all vote Republican. They ain't Bubbas. None of 'em. Thet are all educated and seccessful but none of them is too enlightened. They are too busy to really delve into any issues and. like many soutern White folks, get their beliefs from sound bites... I can't do a thing with them because beyond their "bumper sticker" knowledge, they are terribly ill-informed... Too busy making a living, raising kids, ect., to know a danged thing. Sad, but true. Lots of southern voters are just like them...
Another thing about southern men is they like to be in the winner's circle. They'll turn their backs on sports teams, race cars and political parties in a heartbeat to be on the winning side. I saw a lot of this during my 20 years loiving in Richmond, Va.
Now, as for the rednecks in their pickup trucks? No political candidate needs to worry at all about them. They flat out don't vote! Fir real. These folks wouldn't vote unless you paid them! Then they'd probably lie about it.
