Ewan MacColl was a big favorite of mine. I got to meet him on a couple of occasions. We corresponded and he, very kindly, contributed a traditional song that he had collected, "The Campanero," when I was putting together my book of folk songs: The Bonnie Bunch of Roses. I have immense respect for the great body of work he produced. Certain of his songs were very consciously composed to be in the folk idiom and are very well-done folk-styled songs. I'm sure some of them are passing into tradition. I consider other of his songs to be topical songs and still more to be contemporary songs. All the best,
Dan
