Thread Name: Origins: grateful dead and folk
Subject: RE: Origins: grateful dead and folk
The way I heerd it, "Grateful Dead" is a theme in folk tales, where someone (the youngest son, likely) does a kindness to a dead person, often by giving him burial, and is then helped in his quest by the spirit of the deceased.

The "Unquiet Grave" story is different; it's about the dead being unable to rest because of too much grieving by the living.

Just a little pedantry here, folks.
