which 'Works' was it? I found this in a newsgroup search using "wps files" and 'word' as search parameters (there were more, but this 'might' be all that is needed)

If you turn on Confirm Conversions on Open
in Tools=>Options=>General in Word you'll see the available

Word 'guesses' wrong."
