One approach might be to start with common interests, and express simply what you find falling short of the mark--try to go easy and point by point, instead of letting the whole bulk of exasperation come flying out in an expletive. It's hard. Not that it will often work.

It's not unusual that someone might like women to look like models on magazines, but it's pretty funny to put it over as if it were a sharp and cutting insight. Then to congratulate oneself for Speaking my mind--as if it were a point of intellectual pride to be able to say Polly want a cracker. Very funny.

Women don't have to sign an allegiance to one grooming practice or another. Both looks work well enough for me--I wouldn't trade the classic hippy-girl style for 20 years of Playboy bunnies. It does say something interesting about a culture, I think, that women have tossed aside bigger constraints than this in short order. Without drawing on a beard, there's nothing left for women to wear to signify cross-dressing. They can wear anything. Female is like Gravity--it propagates through everything and nothing. But I understand why things like this can be important to guys--guy I worked with was always mistaking long-haired guys for "babes" when driving through the park. He couldn't percieve the subtler gender cues. He needed help--flags, signs, markers, directions.
