There is a commercial currently running in NY, which is for some magic formula to remove hair. Sitting in a chair is a faceless woman. If she had one more hair, she could swing in a tree. I have to say the commercial is repulsive, because this lady hasn't shaved in 10 years. I'd love to see the help wanted ad she answered to get that job: Are your nights lonely, can you walk thru snow drifts & still feel warm, Can you perm your hairy legs ? Well, have we've got a job for you!

It is a societal thing, some cultures forbid women to bathe during their menses or when they're pregnant.
