Moreton Bay Bugs were considerd an annoying unwanted bycatch, just dumped, until some clever marketers convinced people that, what with the rising scarisity of crab and lobster, they were edible...

Still prefer Aussie "Golden Syrup" (cane sugar based) to the taste of Maple Syrup - very few maple trees here too :-) I prefer the deeper taste to the very light Maple syrip taste mostlt, but if you can find the real imported stuff, not the "Maple Syrup Flavour" stuff, it's OK.
