My Grandmother (1891-1976) used to sing it too but not to that tune.
The tune given by CapriUni is one we sang at Sunday School many long years ago -
I'm in the Lord's Army, I'm in the Lord's Army,
I may never ...(I forget)... ride in the cavalry, shoot in the tillery,
I may never fly o'er the enemy,
But I'm in the Lord's Army!
Which came first then? The old grey mare or the Lord's Army?
