Mother got a fruitcake from somewhere in Cinncinatti that was all fruit. I don't know how it was made, but it was heavy on dates and candied cherries.
Homemade fruitcake can be pretty good. The commercial onese are horrid!
Then there's the happy time I gave Kevin Haffey a slice of my Kentucky cousin's fruitcake, well and truly soaked in the best Kentucky bourbon. Kevin said it was alright, except for the whiskey, she should have used Irish.
