I tend to drink out of a quart tankard - mainly because it saves queuing at the bar so much - and having to push my way out of crowded singarounds etc and also the fact that a single pint won't last me through a half-hour club spot. As I'm a thirsty sod, I prefer to drink "session beers" which are 4% or under - here's a list of some of my favourites.
Young's (Wandsworth) ordinary bitter McMullen's (Hertford) AK Adnam's (Southwold) ordinary bitter Shepherd Neame bitter Ridley's (Chelmsford)IPA Fuller's Chiswick bitter - I wish they still made their "Hock" it was like a light porter - very moor-ish Larkin's (Chiddingstone, Kent) bitter - lovely flavour, but only 3.4% Harvey's (Lewes) Sussex Bitter Brakspear's (Henley) ordinary bitter Caledonian Brewery Deuchars - one of the very pale bitters with the fruity flavour of "Cascade" hops And I even enjoy a pint of Courage Best Bitter !
Beers don't need to be strong to be tasty - it sometimes annoys me that many specialist "Real Ale" pubs only seem to want to stock the ones which are 5% or over.
