I did come across, and post to an 'origins' thread here, a broadside in the Bodley collection from about 1820, which DID have the 'You'll take the high road' verse, but didn't actually mention Loch Lomond.
Unfortunately I can't find it at the moment.

This seems to be the earliest version so far.
