The two Vietnams had been fighting, and the French had intervened, before the US intervened. Iraq attacked Kuwait first, then the Allies intervened. In Afghanistan, the war against the Taliban had been going on for years before the events of September 11 persuaded the US to intervene. In the present war, the US is supported by a coalition, especially by the UK. The US hasn't won many wars ON HER OWN for the simple reason that she hasn't BEEN in many wars on her own.
