Thread Name: Lyr ADD Bruach na Carraige Báine (Altan)
Subject: RE: ar bruach na carraige baine - altan
There is a norhern tune called "The Brink of the White Rocks" or "O'Carolan's Cup". I don't know whether this is the same air as the Munster 'Bruach na Carraige Báine' but there are many websites on which you can audially check it out:
www.acronet.net/~robokopp/irishl.html AND
http://www.maninut.com/musicsites/irishmusic.html
http://home.earthlink.net/~rhodan/irish_midi.html
http://www.fortunecity.com/bally/westport/118/irshmenu.htm
http://www.bnp.net/nw/irish/irshmenu.htm

The music for this tune will be found in the following publications:
Carolan. The Life, Times and Music of an Irish Harper. Vol. 1, Celtic Music, Lincolnshire, England, (1983/1958), p268

The Complete Works of O'Carolan, Ossian Publications, ISBN: 0 946005 16 8

According to the internet sources I consulted, the O'Carolan tune is similar to one collected from another harpist by Edward Bunting. Bunting's collection was also published.
