The (U.S.) National Endowment for the Arts' National Heritage Fellowships are all about folkies (not just music). Being $$ and not just a medal, they're pretty nice. They don't make TV, though like the Kennedy Center Honors for the performing arts. Pete Seeger made it there, otherwise folk is pretty tangentially represented.
