Ah, so -- right -- I meant the standard in popu;ar use in the American typewriter industry in the 50's and 60's (Smith Corona, Royal, and IBM for example) all of which were keyed the same in their office models. I realize however this is no real standard at all.

I believe the cents sign which I cannot find at the moment used to be shift 6 as suggested.
