For anyone really interested there are quite a few lighthouses that the U.S. Gov't is willing to part with. With new fangled gadgets (laser range finders, etc) the old lights are no longer needed in lots of areas. They are usually looking for societies to step forward and "adopt" the light to take care of it (most are historis landmarks).
