Just a few minutes ago, I was getting ready to try the Norton LiveUpdate (LU) fix and had printed the 7 page long LU1803 Error explanation and the 3 possible solution instructions.

Then I decided to try LU one last time, I noticed that is was running automatically in the background when I tried to start it manually. Since this is Wednesday, this is the day Norton updates its virus definitions. They loaded on my machine automatically and tried LU 3 more times to confirm that all was working OK.

Don't ask me what happened, other than the problem must have been with LiveUpdate FROM NORTON not my machine. For 2 days I could not use LU then all of the sudden LU worked.

The moral: procrastinate when dealing with computer problems and your problems may "fix" themselves (I really don't believe that).
