So far as I can remember, the only connection between the songs is that Fairport Convention, long ago, recorded an arrangement of a text of the latter set to the tune of the former. As Sinsull says, there have been a lot of discussions here that touch on both songs, and it's certainly worth your while having a look through them. It may be that there are new and useful things to be said, but on the whole it's more likely that people will just repeat the same old stuff in any new thread on the subject.
