Yes, Gareth, but the Conservative Party was more or less wiped out in Wales (at least in terms of MPs) in 1997. And it got marginalised in Scotland too. Heseltine and Howe were despatched to the House of Lords. The question is, can Michael Howard's leadership win enough seats for a Conservative Government to take over next year.....? and however dire New Labour may be, one hopes not....
