I do know a chap who, following a re-enactment muster, had emptied the clothing and light kit out of his car and intending to finish emptying the boot next morning. The following day he was woken by a phone call asking him to come into work to help with a minor emergency, he drove in, passed through a Police security cordon (London's "Ring of Steel"), got to work and suddenly realised that he had two functioning replica Stokes Mortars in the boot of his car.
I wonder what would have happened if they'd been found?
