Thread Name: BS: who likes what mattress and why
Subject: RE: BS: who likes what mattress and why
You can go broke in a hurry in a mattress shop. Although my eye was certainly distracted by some of those Lithuanian "Magic Foam" Space Age Wonder Mattresses, I recently opted for a comparative bargain. The Sealy, Posture Premier suits me just fine and was three or four hundred dollars cheaper than the sort I mentioned. It is among the "pillow top" models and falls within that terribly elusive zone between comfortably cushy and supportively firm.

I believe that there is just about as much BS in mattress sales as there is in the rest of the world of furniture sales. One of the so called selling points of some mattresses is that they sport reinforced edges. From all I can see, this is just a clever way of describing the concealed, thick wire frame that maintains the geometric shape of some mattresses. Salesmen will tell you that no matter how often you sit on it, the edge of your bed will remain firm. So what? Unless you are someone who spends hours sitting on the edge of your bed with your legs dangling over the side, I fail to see the advantage. I don't know about everyone else, but I spend my time somewhere between the edges.

Beware! And best of luck!
