The begining of this was passed by the tories some years ago. Where, if you were injured by a third party from whom damages, compensation etc was recoverable and you managed to obtain such. Then your employer was able to reclaim any sick pay and or other expenses that you had received from your recieved compensation.Pretty shitty stuff, since it would in the early days, wipe out any actual compensation for pain and suffering. However, lawyers soon caught on, and therefore claims for compensation escalated in the amounts persued.

Of course,many of these claims only run into thousands, but consider the amounts paid out for libel etc-there is no clawback on things like this. (Maybe because generally only the rich are libelled)

As usual it's the rich wot gets the pleasure.
