I woke up this morning with Rick on my mind again; he has been on my mind every few minutes since I first opened this thread in disbelief. I keep casting about trying to detect his presence, catching glimmers, but mostly having to reconcile the fact that he won't be there to laugh and make me laugh, to advise and enlighten on arcane musical issues, to teach me to play the five-string banjo someday, a joy I had always promised myself. Aw, shit.

I know he's flying high and grinning wide. I just wish I could jump out of my skin for a minute and do it with him.
