One problem that you would have with phonetic spellings is that it is very difficult to phonetically spell some of the sounds that really don't have an equivalent in Bearla (English). (Sorry for the lack of fada's but I can't get them to type in threads). One of my favorite songs to sing is "Molly Na gCuach Ni/ Chuillea/in". I had a request to write it out phonetically, but found it very difficult to get some of the words right for folks.
