Thread Name: Is there a folk club mafia ?
Subject: RE: Is there a folk club mafia ?
. . . . and if anyone keeps on with these slanders, the godfather's goin' ta send round a coupla of the boys - justa put you right - yeh ?

OK Brucie, but I suppose we all have singers that we would prefer to keep off the list - especially on those nights when we've got a fairly full house and are hoping that they'll all be turning up next week as well. I must admit that I've never been quite as blunt with Avril at a folk club as I was in my first posting on this thread - it's probably more difficult face to face, but I have tried to give her advice - and she's not very good at taking it, so she probably thinks it's just that she's not one of the clique.

She does have a couple of big points in her favour, but they're nothing to do with her singing. While the blokes might stick around because of these, once she starts singing, as Essex Girl said - all the ladies go off to the loo, and most pub facilities can't cope with the rush and we don't see most of them back for half the evening - which is a nuisance if I want to sing a song with Linda.
