A former chairman of American Airlines used to brag he saved $2,000,000 by taking the pickle and two olives off the first class meal tray. Of course now they've taken the silverware and more often than not the tray as well, but that's not the point.

I believe that this is why pickles won't fly -- it's a protest. The same goes for olives, of course, but that should be a separate thread.
