Thread Name: Lyr Req: Granny's Song at Twilight (Stanley/Allen)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Granny's Song at Twilight?
The song (or maybe comic recitation) NELL in our own DT has a reference to GRANNY'S SONG AT TWILIGHT:

Nell was a plumber's daughter;
Aye, Nell was a plumber's lass.
She ran like mad for to fetch her dad
When she smelt an escape of gas.
Dad went upstairs with a lighted match
Singing "Granny's Song at Twilight."
We heard a crack, and dad came back,
Through the next door neighbour's skylight.

When a song gets mentioned in another song or story, that's usually an indication that it's very popular. However I haven't found any evidence of any current recordings or re-issues, and except for a few old records and copies of the sheet music being offered for sale, there's almost no mention of it on the Internet. Strange. Looks like this one would be a good one to save from oblivion.
