Hi Linn - Sounds as if things are looking up from all directions. A bit of sleep can work wonders. Years ago, not long after college, I had emergency surgery. The insurance at the place where I worked didn't take effect until you'd been there a month, and I'd barely been there a month - so we thought it was OK - but then the insurance company quibbled (forget their technicality, but they found one) and denied the whole claim. I had hysterics at my doctor's office, and he made the bill go away. It was probably the hospital fund other folks have mentioned - I was so glad that I didn't have to live on peanut butter sandwiches for the next 20 years that I didn't care how it happened. I mention the incident because a sympathetic doctor is another route to try, and a doctor might have some influence over how the funds get distributed.
