..which hair..

in 1983.. there was a big event/demonstration in the desert in central australia. over 800 women from all over australia went und camped under the stars, near Uluru and Pine Gap, an american military base.

we camped for a few days, walked the road through the desert and on 11th November stormed the military installation. and after a blockade by police, we broke through, broke down the gate, and 111 women entered the military base.. 111 women were arrested and all gave their names as Karen Silkwood.

i tell this tale because of the which hair comment. a very enterprising group of around 20 men went and formed a camp nearby, ostensibly to politically "support" the women in their endeavours.. One very bald but enthusiastic man visited the camp every day, and kindly let me and other women know that baldness is a sign of massive virility, and that he could be very supportive if required.

didn't find out first hand, but a friend did, and it was true..
