I didn't know about Ms. Lane. I do remember the poem from Rosemary and Stephen Vincent Benet's "Book of Americans" "Poor James Buchanan fiddled his whole term through. The north was getting it's dander up the south was angry too." They're fun poems. I wish someone would bring it back into print, instead of the patriotic tripe they're pushing on kids now.
