Sometimes even the kindest and most sympathetic thoughts and deeds can't help or reach the bereaved. The important thing is that you care and show you care.

A hug, a kind word, a gentle touch, a heartfelt poem. She will remember these things.

There will be times, even 30 years on when something, like your poem perhaps, will bring to the surface her grief, but mostly things will get better. Time and love, the healers.
