And don't neglect eye contact! I don't expect Pete's photo is typical, but if you spend a lot of time looking at your audience and not too much watching your fingers, your audience will feel much more of a rapport with you. But I'm sure you know this.

It can be a problem for singers: if you close your eyes too much during songs, the audience may not feel you're singing to them so much as to yourself.
