I have a much admired sister-in-law who worked for many years in national parks, and one morning discovered a large rattler on her back porch. just as she was getting ready to go out. She somehow got it swooped up into a black plastic trashbag and threw it in to the freezer, and left for a business trip. When she returned, it had frozen to death, and she skinned it and made belt buckles out of the skin.
