Thread Name: Lyr Req: Moonlight Sonata
Subject: RE: LYR REQ: Moonlight Sonata
Not withstanding the comment from Peter, I remember dimly that there was a popular rendition of "Moonlight Sonata" that had lyrics--actually, to be accurate, there was a popular song that used the melody to MS--as you all know, perhaps too well, there was something of a thing that Tin Pan Alley had for taking classical melodies and writing lyrics that expressed the sentiments of the day to them--

The musical, "Kismet" is a favorite example, because the songs are based on compositions of Borodin, which were in turn based on folk music--

Anyway, I have moved and all my rooks and becords are scattered, so it is hard for me to look things up, but as the boxes are opened, I'll see what I can find--(I have been checking this thread and hoping that someone else would remember!)
