I'll go with Sinsull - the scissors come out every time with those cartons and I always cut both sides of the flap to allow for air flow when pouring - it does work.

I think I agree with Brucie on jOhn and a pair of scissors......... you're best off sticking to the Guinness jOhn - much less hazardous.
