As the guest who pissed off Deckman, I'd just like to say: take a deep breath, it's only an internet chat forum. If participating in the hand to hand combat of democratic debate is too much for you, then you are right to bow out. Life is too short and sweet to mix it up in political threads if you don't enjoy mixing it up in political threads.

But Deckman--rather than demonizing and blaming others for all your political BS unhappiness, why not just admit to yourself you don't enjoy the banter? Speaking of ad hominem sorts of things...
