I loved Freedomland!!! It was laid out like a map of the US, with rides whose themes corresponded to the different locations. In the Chicago Fire, they had an old-fashioned fire truck that put out a real fire in a building. I grabbed the long wooden handle of the fire truck, which promptly yanked me up off the ground. I let go, fell off, and the handle hit me in the head! There was also the San Francisco earthquake, one of several in which you rode in a little car through a series of displays. The fake buildings fell down and "almost" hit you. Most of the rest is lost in the dim recesses of a child's memory, but thanks for reminding me, CB! That must have been the same trip to NY when we went to the Bronx Zoo and the Hayden Planetarium. I'm guessing it was around 1960--does that fit with Freedomland's existence?

Aloha,
Mark
