Peter T, I was fortunate to see Julie Christie when she was at Birmingham Rep Theatre (including being Ariel in The Tempest and multiple roles in their Christmas Review)in the 1960s,just about the time she was making Billy Liar. I've been a fan ever since but, yes, she's been shamefully underused in films, I think she chose to reject "same again" parts she was offered after Zhivago.
